A Fine Night For It is a Stranger mission featured in Red Dead Redemption 2. The quest becomes available during Chapter 2.
Story[]
After encountering the Night Folk at least once, a stranger will appear on the road heading into Lagras during the night. A old man is sitting at a camp and tells the player about the Night Folk - a murderous group of killers who roam the Bayou. He tells the player that the Night Folk have overrun his house and asks the player to help him evict them. The player follows him to his house to help clear Night Folk off the property. During the walk, the stranger points to corpses, saying the Night Folk have made their mark here.
After reaching the house, the player will find five enemies and must fight them. After killing them, another group of four will spawn outside soon after and attempt to attack the cabin. After killing all enemies, the old man reclaims his house and gives a reward.
Walkthrough[]
Availability: Complete one of the "Torch Procession", "Stalking Shadows", "Spooked Horse". or "Voice" chance encounters; mission available between 10pm and 5am only.
Walkthrough: After completing any of the chance encounters listed above, head to this stranger at night time - he has set up camp in the Bayou, just northwest of Lagras. Listen to his story and agree to help him. Follow him until you reach his property. A handful of Night Folk occupy the area: take the first one by surprise. then pick off the others as they sprint in your direction with instant headshots. After you enter the house, reinforcements arrive. Take cover behind the railing and dispatch them one by one. prioritizing those who wield machetes - these can potentially kill you with a single blow.

Trivia[]
- The mission screen displays a different PED used for the Old Cajun than the one used in the final version of the game.
- This mission is one of the two opportunities to grab the Liberty Hat, with the other being in the mission "An American Pastoral Scene". It is found on the head of a hogtied man next to the cabin near the end of the mission. Players should kill the Night Folk but refrain from entering the cabin to accept their reward, and instead check if the man wears the hat. If he doesn't, the player can reload the checkpoint.
- After the wave of Night Folk, the player can free a hogtied man for a boost of honor if he is still alive at that point.
