Carlitos Borrego is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.

Background[]

Carlitos is a soldier in the Mexican Army. Judging from his dirty and patched-up uniform, it can be assumed that he is a recent conscript.

Interactions[]

Red Dead Redemption[]

Carlitos appears in several missions, all of which take place in Nuevo Paraíso. During "My Sister's Keeper", he is seen manning a checkpoint with Aurelio Canizales and Cesar Deguzman, all of whom fire on Marston and Miranda Fortuna after mistaking them for rebel saboteurs. He is also seen in "Cowards Die Many Times", taking part in a shooting competition with Marston and then joining other soldiers in an ambush intended to kill him at Chuparosa.

Outside of missions, he can usually be seen in El Presidio on guard duty. If Marston kills at least twenty lawmen while his bounty is active, Carlitos and his fellow soldiers will track him to multiple locations across Nuevo Paraiso with shoot-to-kill orders.

After the death of Allende, Carlitos can be found with the remnants of his unit in exile at Torquemada. If the player attains a bounty of $1,000 or higher, he may join other fellow soldiers in pursuing them for the reward and will fire on sight.

Undead Nightmare[]

Carlitos can be found defending Torquemada, where he is on the roof of one of the small houses, if Carlitos survives, he will stay on the roof of the same house, either out of fear or because he assumes that the danger is not yet over.

Trivia[]

  • Carlito wears an American soldiers' shirt. This supports the assertion that he is a conscript and likely wasn't given a full uniform to wear.
  • His character model is available in the Outfitter under the name Juan Vargas.
  • His surname is Spanish for "sheep."
  • He is one of two Mexican Army soldiers that have multiplayer counterparts, the other being Wilfredo Arrabal.
  • "Borrego" is also part of the name for an abandoned location in Nuevo Paraiso.
