I can't understand how strangers can be so cruel.

–Elizabeth Thornton

Elizabeth Thornton is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption. She primarily appears in the stranger side-mission "The Wronged Woman" and also makes a brief cameo in the main story mission "Exodus in America".

Background[]

Not much is known about her background beyond her marriage to Harold Thornton.

Interactions[]

After killing Harold in a duel and delivering his money to Clara LaGuerta, Marston finds Elizabeth mourning her husband in the Blackwater public cemetery. She reveals that her husband had problems with gambling and women and implies that Clara had deceived Marston and tricked him into murdering and robbing Harold for her.

Quotes[]

Trivia[]

  • A generic NPC with a very similar appearance to Elizabeth can sometimes be found in various locations across the United States. Whether or not it is her is unknown.
  • Rarely, if Elizabeth is killed and looted, Marston will hilariously call her "sir".
  • If a gun is pointed at her, she will run away like any normal NPC. However, she makes masculine screams of fear, or if the player tries to assault her, grunting noises. This is likely due to a bug causing the game to mistake her for a male character. This could explain why Marston may refer to her as “sir” upon looting her corpse.
