The knife is a short-range handheld weapon. Its stopping power is very low, but its re-equip speed is fast.
It can come in handy during stealth sections, since performing a "headshot" will instantly kill weaker enemies without alerting anyone within a reasonable distance. What make's it one of the best Is it can be used to stealthily kill your enemies from behind without alerting anyone.
Acquisition
The knife can be purchased for $75 at the Prospector's Wagon. The player can buy the knife as early as the mission "Bounty Hunter".
