A sickly looking brown horse. Slow speed.

–In-game description

The Lusitano Nag is a horse and transport featured in Red Dead Redemption.

The nag is one of the three slowest horses in the entire game, along with the Jaded Tersk and the Infested Ardennais. All three of them fall into the "one-star horses" category.

Description[]

The Lusitano Nag is the second horse unlocked in multiplayer. The Nag is an upgrade from the much slower Mule, but is rather frail-looking, and the slowest horse in the game.

In single player, the player may purchase this horse for $250 from the General Store in various towns.

Note: prices listed on this page are based upon the player having neutral honor and playing the game on Normal difficulty. If the player has high honor, the selling price will be Increased by 50% everywhere except Thieves' Landing. Low Honor decreases selling price by 50% everywhere except Thieves' Landing. While playing the game on Hardcore difficulty, money is more scarce and the base, neutral honor price of each item will be slightly lower.

In multiplayer, the Nag is unlocked at level 4 regardless of Legend rank. It is also the horse that players, in some competitive Gang Shootouts, can use due to balance issues.

Trivia[]

  • The Lusitano is a Portuguese breed of horse, taking its name from Lusitania, the ancient Roman name for the region that today is Portugal.
  • The real Lusitano breed is actually a respected breed, with different color from the game, and used in many western movies from the 1950s.
  • In multiplayer, the Nag's Outfitter picture is seen bareback (without a saddle). However, when you whistle for the horse in Free Roam, the Nag comes to you with a saddle.
  • This horse can be found in the wild in Mexico, giving the player the opportunity to break one.
  • Sometimes after completing the Tumbleweed hideout in single-player, this horse can be found in the corral by the barn wearing just a bridle.
