Completely restores your health.

–In-game description

Medicine is a consumable item found in Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Revolver[]

The player does not purchase Medicine in Red Dead Revolver, but it is dropped occasionally by enemies when killed. The Medicine appears as a white bottle with a red cross. When the player moves over the bottle, their health is restored, sometimes a small amount, sometimes in full. If the player is already at full health, the bottle will still be consumed without providing any benefit.

In Showdown Mode, green playing cards take the place of medicine as the items that restore health.

Red Dead Redemption[]

The medicine is an item the player can purchase at many doctor's offices found in just about any town in the world of the game. It can also be looted from corpses or found in chests. Up to five bottles of medicine can be carried at one time, ten with the Treasure Hunter's satchel. It can be used by opening up the satchel and selecting the medicine, even in the midst of combat.

Medicine is extremely useful in situations when the player's health has dropped because it instantly and completely restores all health. This comes in handy when hunting dangerous animals, such as bears or cougars, or when clearing gang hideouts.

Medicine is also needed for the Stranger side-mission "Jenny's Faith".

Medicine is a rare commodity in both Hardcore mode and Undead Nightmare, so players should only use medicine when it is absolutely necessary.

Note: prices listed on this page are based upon the player having neutral honor and playing the game on Normal difficulty. If the player has high honor, the selling price will be Increased by 50% everywhere except Thieves' Landing. Low Honor decreases selling price by 50% everywhere except Thieves' Landing. While playing the game on Hardcore difficulty, money is more scarce and the base, neutral honor price of each item will be slightly lower.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that medicine is a type of Laudanum. When Marston is talking to the doctor in Armadillo, he will ask if John needs laudanum.

Bugs[]

  • It is possible to take medicine at the exact moment of death resulting in the player laying on the ground as though dead, although the game reacts to them as though alive. While in this state no movement is capable but certain weapons can be used.
