Surprise Triple Xp bonuses[]

I'd like to make a brief announcement regarding the recent adjustment that was made in regards to cut content on the site.
As most may know, all information related to cut content in Red Dead titles had previously been added to the "Beta releases" page. However, since that spanned across three titles, we recently decided to create separate articles to contain such for the sake of more practical arrangement, as has been done with other information relevant to specific entries. These of course being Red Dead Revolver Cut Content, Red Dead Redemption Cut Content, and Red Dead Redemption 2 Cut Content, respectively. As such, each page can be accessed through its disambiguation navigation article.
So, any information regarding cut content can be added to these articles to correspond to their respective entry with necessary citations now.

All Good Things Must Come to an End - My Resignation
It's been almost two and a half years since I first joined this wiki, time really flies and with it comes life. I didn't start editing here because I felt forced to do it, no, I always contrivbuted when and if I felt like it. Contributing can at times feel very unappreciated and pointless at times. But looking back at it I do not regret contributing, it has allowed me to get to know people, people I see as friends. Something I am very glad about.
However, life has to come first and under a rather long period my editing has been in an on/off state. This has inevitably resulted in other staff members having to step into my shoes at times and work harder to not let my absence affect the wiki. That being said, the work we do is in essence still volontary work which means that we get very little reward for the work we do.
Many factors have contributed to my absence, the primary one is my personal life where my studies need to come first. This summer I will hopefully take my masters degree an…

While it may not come as a huge surprise to anyone, it is with a heavy heart that I hereby announce my resignation. It has been one hell of a ride since I joined this wonderful community late last year which involved plenty of exciting tasks, caring people and interesting opportunities, in short, an experience I'll never forget nor regret. However, like so many before me, my journey has come to an end and it is time to ride into the sunset, at least for the time being.
Last but not least, I want to express my gratitude to the commitment, comradery and the ever-present support from certain individuals of the staff and the community, whose names will remain undisclosed. However, you all know who you are.

Resignation
After one year and 275 days of dedicating myself to this wiki, I must resign. I've enjoyed my time here and it's certainly taught me some lessons in how to be mature and how to be a better person.
I am not just resigning from this wiki, but from all of Wikia. I want to devote my energy to pursuits in real life. I'd rather have a life and a job than keep this wiki running. The time I've spent on Wikia has certainly taught me a lot, and I won't be forgetting this anytime soon.
Good luck to whoever takes my place here. As the sole administrator, I had to do a lot of work, especially at the start of my tenure as staff due to being the only regularly active staff member. Now that my time here is over, I will be reflecting on my career on this wiki, then I'll quickly move on and ignore it's existence.

Raziel Reaper – A Legend of the West
The wild west was a harsh and unforgiving place where gunslingers and outlaws alike went from being actual individuals to become myths and legends – the number of people whom got the opportunity to outlive their legend along with telling their own tale was scarce, and the history of the Red Dead Wiki itself is no different. There has been an unthinkable amount of users on the Wikia throughout the ages, not to mention moderators, owners and staff members in general. Someone who gained prominence for, what seems like a lifetime ago, is our beloved administrator Ilan or Raziel Reaper (Raz) as he is more commonly known these days. After having joined the Red Dead Wiki on July 6th, 2011, Raz started contributing to the wiki and eventually, due to the increase in his activity and his general demeanour, managed to nick himself a promotion to become a member of the staff on January 3rd, 2012. 2018 Hall of Gunslingers and Spawny Awards
Last year, Red Dead Wiki inducted it's first users into it's Hall of Gunslingers, and awarded the first Spawny Award. This year, another three users are being honored, with two inducted into the Hall of Gunslingers and one being the recipient of the Spawny Award. It is my privilege to announce the Hall of Gunslingers Class of 2018 to be none other than JackFrost23 and Hawbz. As for the winner of this year's Spawny Award, the 2018 Recipient of the Spawny Award is User:Blaff 60. We had a strenuous time of looking through the eligible candidates and we decided these three were the best options to receive the wiki's highest honors. With 2018's honorees determined, the task of determining 2019's recipients has begun. Happy new year from the Red Dead Wiki staff. We will see you in 2019.

Since the announcement of Red Dead Redemption II back in October 2016, GTA Series Videos have posted 17 videos to their channel involving Red Dead Redemption II, most of which analyze trailers and screenshots released by Rockstar Games. With only one month until Red Dead Redemption II is released, i'm putting up most of the videos released so far, listed in chronological order.

Red Dead Redemption II: Analysis of 3rd Trailer
Rockstar has released the third trailer for the game, and it includes many more new details on the game and characters. We've got an idea for what it'll be like, so let's take a look at it.
We've got more shots of Dutch's gang and other characters in the game. In the opening scene, we see the gang holding up a train. We see Dutch, Bill, Arthur, and other members. However, we can't see the blonde woman or Marston, so maybe they simply don't take part in the robbery. In other scene's, we see the blonde woman stabbing something, and Marston being held at knifepoint. We see federal agents, including a character who seem to be Edgar Ross. We can view another federal agent who could be Ross' mentor. One of the members of Dutch's gang seems to be a Native American, which might end up explaining more about how the new Dutch's gang consists of only Native Americans. A man who looks like Uncle appears with the gang.

Red Dead News Monthly - 1st Edition
Welcome cowboys and cowgirls to the first Monthly News blog on the Wiki (January)! A new edition will come out every month on the first Friday, the purpose of this blog is to every month discuss what news and events have taken place during the previous month. That includes but are not limited to; leaks, official news, speculation, analysis, etc. As part of the upcoming release of Red Dead Redemption II I will mainly focus on Red Dead Redemption II specific content. Mainly leaks and official news. The readers will also be able to join the blog by answering polls and discussing with others in the comments.

Red Dead Redemption II: What We Know So Far
With Red Dead Redemption II's delay, we have more time until the game is released after the long wait. Originally announced in October 2016, it was scheduled for Fall 2017, then rescheduled to Spring 2018. Now, we have a release date of October 26, 2018, more than eight months away. In the meantime, let's look at what we already know.

We know that we're playing as Arthur Morgan, and that Dutch's gang will play a large part in the game. In trailers and screenshots, we've seen Arthur, Bill, and Dutch. However, we haven't closely seen John, Jack, Javier, or Abigail. We've also seen an unknown woman, who seems to be based off of Bonnie McFarlane. It's likely we'll see more screenshots and learn more information as we approach the release date.

Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed... again...
Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed yet again. As the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 got closer and closer Rockstar dropped a bomb on the community today February 1st 2018. That being yet another delay for the release date, it was scheduled to release this Spring but is now scheduled to release on October 26, 2018. That is almost 1 year later than the first date they had in plan for the game, that being Autumn of 2017.
While it came as a shock to many people, this is in-fact not the first time Rockstar has done this. GTA 5 was originally planned to release 2011, but was later delayed to release in Spring of 2013, however when the date got closer and closer they eventually delayed it to release in September of 2013. So why does this occur with Rockstar titles?

The Hall Of Gunslingers and The Spawny Award
Wikis all across Wikia have some sort of award or honor bestowed upon the best users of their wikis. With my recent undertaking of getting The Red Dead Wiki ready for the surge of activity upon the release of Red Dead Redemption II, I've prepared news articles, advice blogs, and an official Discord server. Now, I am here to discuss two new features of this modernization that I've come up with. These two features are a Hall Of Fame for the wiki, and an award known as The Spawny Award.
To honor distinguished members of the wiki, a Hall Of Fame, known as The Hall Of Gunslingers is to be implemented. Inductions would occur once every year, on December 31, and I intend to start it this year. Due to low activity, I've come up with a two users who should be the first inductees, and I plan on talking with all active staff in order to get approval. All other staff can suggest more names, and after talking about the suggestions, suggestions can be either turned down, or given approval. However, …
Magnificent Qualities Administrators Should Possess
Administrators are a group of people who possess power in some shape or size. They may rule over a chat, or perhaps they may rule over a wiki, but they have power in some kind of way. However, if one takes a look at any of the many wikis that have died or became troll infested pits of bubbling, disgusting, revolting trolls, then you'll see not everyone is fit for the role of an Administrator. Using my experience as an Administrator, and my experience of dealing with other Administrators, I am going to discuss a few things that, in my opinion, every Administrator should possess.

The Official Red Dead Discord Is Now Open
With the new Red Dead game set to be released anywhere from four to six months from now, Red Dead Wiki is preparing for the boost of activity by modernizing. The first step in this process is to open a Discord server for the channel. It will be a good addition to the wiki, and will help to draw users to the wiki. There are a few pros and cons to opening a Discord server.
- Discord has a number of features that Wikia chats don't have.
- Bots on Discord can do a number of things.
- Each user is in a category.
- Messages can be edited to correct a mistake.
- There are no time limits to bans.
- Messages can be deleted but can be viewed by staff after deletion.
- If a user is kicked, they'll need the invite to get back in.
With that, I encourage the users here to join the server. While change can be a little odd at first, one can become used to it. This change is good for the wiki as a whole, and a wise person once said "Change is only good when it makes things better", so I believe this change is a good change…
A Note to Editors (Seasoned and the New alike...)
In light of recent events, the new Red Dead game (Red Dead Redemption II) has formally announced and we are excited as much as you are. However, keep the leaks and speculation to yourselves. Also, in regards to the articles, stick to the official information coming from Rockstar Games themselves and to the previews in the future. Please, follow the rules of this wiki and hope you have a good hype time right now.
To summarize:
- Don't put speculative information or leaks to the articles related to the new Red Dead game!
- Keep the future articles for RDRII clean and bright! Don't put too much and don't put too less.

Effects of GameSpy Shutdown on Red Dead Redemption
Rockstar Games has revealed the effect that the upcoming closure of GameSpy servers will have on its library of Xbox 360 and PS3 games.
"We want to give everyone a quick update on the actions we’re taking in light of GameSpy and GLU Mobile’s decision to shut down their backend servers this coming May 31," Rockstar writes on its support page. "While Grand Theft Auto V is unaffected, our teams are currently working to patch specific older titles to keep the transition as smooth as possible and minimize the impact to online-enabled play and your in-game experience.
"The majority of changes will be in the form of Rockstar Games Social Club services, including stat tracking and leaderboards."

Memorial Day 3XP + Social Club Event
Rockstar is hosting another six-hour Social Club event covering all of their current games on Saturday May 25 from 12:00 - 18:00 EDT (17:00 - 23:00 BST). Unlike the previous such event where each game was played for about two hours, this time all five games will be played all six hours (in addition to Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, Max Payne 3, Midnight Club Los Angeles, and Rockstar Table Tennis will be played).
Triple XP will be active Friday through Monday for Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3.

Red Dead Revolver now on PSN
Rockstar Games announced today (link below) that Red Dead Revolver is now available for purchase as a downloadable "PS2 Classic" from the PlayStation Store, along with two other PS2-era Rockstar games (Bully and Midnight Club 3). Each title is $9.99 in the U.S. store. For those outside the U.S., check your local PlayStation Store for pricing.
As a "PS2 Classic", the title will be exactly as it was on the PS2, meaning no graphical improvements, trophy support, etc. This is still a great opportunity for PS3 owners to check out the predecessor to Red Dead Redemption (and to contribute to the wiki along the way, right?).

Friday November 16 Social Club Event
On Friday November 16 from 11:00 - 14:00 Eastern Time (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM), Rockstar is hosting a Social Club Multiplayer Event (follow the link for full details). Triple XP will be active throughout the weekend and the event will include both PSN and XBL users.
During the event, Social Club members can enter a drawing to win a Rockstar prize pack (t-shirt, RDR playing cards, and stickers). I was fortunate enough to win a pack in a previous event and have included a couple of photos below to show the contents.
In addition to Social Club events, Rockstar developers also periodically have impromptu one hour sessions that are announced via Twitter and Facebook.

Friday April 20 Social Club Event
On Friday April 20 from 16:00 - 19:00 Eastern Time (4:00 PM - 7:00 PM), Rockstar is hosting a Social Club Multiplayer Event. Triple XP will be active throughout the weekend. Although the official event is being held for PS3 only, both platforms get Triple XP.
During the event, Social Club members can enter a drawing to win a pair of custom PS3 controllers or one of twenty prize packs (t-shirt, RDR playing cards, and stickers) - follow the above link for details.
The remaining Social Club events that have been announced for May and June are all for Max Payne 3, since that game is being released next month. In 2011, the majority of Social Club events were for Red Dead Redemption, but the earlier games Grand Theft Auto IV and Midnight Club: Los Angeles also had occasional events. Although nothing has been announced yet, I suspect that in 2012 the majority of events will be for Max Payne 3, while Red Dead Redemption will have an event every couple of months.

I think this is especially appropriate since Spawny loved Undead Overrun and the message of the PSA is very applicable to that game mode as well.

R.I.P. Spawny
It is with much sadness that I report the following. This morning Spawny's sister posted to K. Harrison Sweeney's Facebook page that Spawny (real name Brittany Robinson) had passed away this morning.
If you aren't familiar with Spawny, she was a huge Red Dead Redemption fan, a very popular contributor to this wiki, and a genuinely nice and generous person. You get a sense of this instantly from reading any of her blog posts.
Over the past year she befriended K. Harrison Sweeney, the voice of Irish, and with his help was able to conduct interviews with several cast members of Red Dead Redemption, culminating in an interview with Rob Wiethoff, the voice of John Marston. This video she posted to YouTube last November about her first interview shows how much it meant to her:

Character Disscusion: John and the Honor Meter
Okay people. Everyone here knows that I love this game, so much that it's an obsession. But one thing has always bothered me about it and that is the honor meter. Why? Because I don't think it fits, John being a bad guy. Allow me to explain. When it comes to John's personality (and not the player's influence) we have to use how he acts in cutscenes to gauge how he really is and to tell you the truth I don't feel he's like that. It's only when the player gets the reins and makes him do bad things that his honor goes down and change his personality, but this change doesn't effect how he is in cutscenes. So he's saving people one minute then killing people the next. It doesn't fit to me. Now I've thought long and hard on how to make this duel personality make sense to me but I can't. So I ask you guys do any of you "get it"? Can you help me understand how someone can be a cutthroat bastard and a nice guy at the same time? Because I don't get it.

A Red Dead Redemption Book? (an idea don't get excited)
Hey guys. I've noticed that ever since the release of the GOTY version of Red Dead Redemption that Wiki activity has slowed down, and that we are sad that the game that this wiki covers has been given the GOTY nail in the coffin. Obviously Rockstar is done with the IP (for now) and I know that I'm not the only one who feels that there are some loose ends in the story that could be tied up. Well I was looking through the books I have on my kindle and noticed that some of them are prequels to popular video games, and it got me thinking. Maybe Rockstar doesn't want to do something as involving as another huge DLC. It takes time, money, and equipment that they want to put towards other projects. But what about a prequel BOOK? Mass Effect: Revelation was pretty damn good and I'm starting Dead Space: Martyr and it's pretty good as well. Get a writer who knows the story of Red Dead inside and out and just write a book. Shit I'd read it! What do you guys think?
PSN full game downloads of RDR and UN now available
Rockstar Games and Sony announced today that both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are now available as full game downloads from the PlayStation Store. The titles are available separately or as a discounted bundle. Currently all Red Dead Redemption content is 30% - 50% off.

PC Players Don't Expect RDR on Your Platform Anytime Soon
In a recent Q & A Rockstar answered the biggest burning question for PC gamers: will RDR be coming out for PC? Well their answer isn't the one you guys were hoping for: "We hope that with the announcement that L.A. Noire is coming to PC this fall, and the knowledge that our next big game Max Payne 3 will have a PC release (plus that we've released both Grand Theft Auto IV and the Episodes from Liberty City for PC), we can finally put to rest any misconceptions that we've ‘abandoned the PC platform'.

Redemption Blues
Was on the Escapist.com when I noticed their weekly song writing "show" (I think that's what Miricale of Sound is. I usually go there for Zero Punctuation) was about our favorite game. I played the video and I must say they did a good job! It's good enough to be apart of the soundtrack IMHO. What do you guys think? Click here to check it out!
Myths and Mavericks Hardcore update
Today Rockstar announced that they have modified the playlists for Myths and Mavericks to add a hardcore option. Previously, all of the Myths and Mavericks playlists were normal mode only. Unfortunately, due to a limitation on the total number of playlists that can exist, a couple of compromises had to be made to add hardcore to the existing maxed-out list, as noted in the details below.
Old playlists:
- Myths and Mavericks FFA Games
- Myths and Mavericks Gang Matches
- Myths and Mavericks Stronghold
New playlists:
- Myths and Mavericks FFA Games
- All FFA Games - will alternate between normal and hardcore on a weekly basis.
- Myths and Mavericks Team Games
- All Gang matches plus Stronghold mixed into the same playlist. Normal mode.
- Myths and Mavericks Hardcore Team games
- All Gang matches plus Stronghold mixed into the same playlist. Hardcore mode.
Red Dead Redemption GOTY Edition Coming in October
In a move surprising no one Rockstar has announced that the Red Dead Redemption Game Of The Year Edition will be coming out on October 11th:

As I was reading in the "Genesis" thread in GTAForum, getting info about GTA V, I stumbled on something, there was a link with all the "TBA" games in Vita leaked. As I scroll down...I saw T2's list of Vita games and saw GTA and Red Dead Record: 1847.
Red Dead Record: 1847? As far as I know, maybe it takes place in the year of 1847 or a prequel for Redemption (as people speculated). Well, here is the link:

WTF?! Some of Red Dead's Cast are Making a Zombie Movie?!
No it's not a joke. I just woke up, and I'm looking at Kotaku and an article caught my eye: "Red Dead Redemption Cast Members Reunite For a Live-Action Horror Movie". "Oh, ok" I said then rolled over sleeply...then I veered around again and let out a huge "WHAT?!?!?!". It turns out it is called From the Trailer to the Grave, and is directed by K. Harrison Sweeney (the voice of Irish). And it stars a bunch of other Red Dead Alum including: Steve J. Palmer and Brad Carter (Bill Williamson and Deputy Jonah respectively). And it also stars Rob Wiethoff, John Marston in the flesh. Now ever since the game came out I've been looking for him so this might be my chance. September! The new pack is called The Myths and Mavericks pack and it will be released in September:

4th of July Weekend Quadruple XP!
Rockstar stated on their facebook update that there will be Quadruple XP starting at 12:01 AM Friday June 1st. Here is what was said.
"In honor of America's birthday and in keeping with its celebratory traditions of spectacle and excess, we're unleashing the first instance of Red Dead Redemption 4XP for multiplayers all around the world on both PS3 and Xbox 360 this July 4th Weekend. Beginning by 12:01AM Eastern this Friday July 1st and running until 11:59 PM Eastern on Monday July 4th, all online multiplayer modes including Free Roam and Undead Overrun in Undead Nightmare will earn you quadruple the experience points during this extended holiday weekend"

Undead Nightmare 100% Tracker Added
During the chat for the Social Club PS3 event tonight, Rockstar mentioned that a new 100% Tracker for Undead Nightmare had been added to the Social Club web site to allow users to track their progress towards achieving 100% completion in the game. Previously a 100% Tracker only existed for the original game. A free Social Club account, tied to the user's PSN or Xbox LIVE account, is required to use the tracker.

Social Club Event Calendar Posted for July - September
Today Rockstar posted the Social Club event calendar for the coming three months: Event Calendar Announcement.
After tomorrow's (June 24) PS3 event, another PS3 event will be held on July 22. The next Red Dead Redemption session for Xbox LIVE follows shortly thereafter on Thursday August 4. Rockstar has been applying Triple XP for both platforms during these sessions. Each platform has a second session scheduled for later in August/September and a couple GTA IV sessions are mixed in for those who play that game as well.

I found this blurb on R*'s message boards:
"Any time Triple XP is active it will always be turned on for both consoles, look for it to be on tomorrow Friday June 24th beginning at 4PM Eastern (New York) time."
Now if they just need to give us info on that upcoming DLC, dammit!
Rockstar Announces Fan Appreciation Red Dead DLC (and it's FREE!!!)
Today Rockstar announced on their Twitter and Facebook that new fan appreciation DLC for Red Dead Redemption will be released soon...and that it'll be 100% FREE!!! Here's what was said on the website:
" We just wanted to let all our Red Dead fans and especially multiplayers out there know that we have some fantastic and entirely FREE DLC coming your way as a show of appreciation for your amazing support since the game’s release last year - including new fan-favorite playable multiplayer characters by popular demand as well as something for all players of Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, Gang matches and other online modes. Stay tuned and we'll have more details for you soon."
Sounds interesting huh? So what do you think it'll be? It said "popular demand" so do you think we'll get that zombie free roam we all want?!?! Fan Appreciation DLC Announcement
Rockstar announced today that they will be releasing some new multiplayer-focused "fan appreciation" DLC. Details are forthcoming, but Rockstar hinted that the DLC will include "new fan-favorite playable multiplayer characters by popular demand as well as something for all players of Deathmatch, Grab the Bag, Gang matches and other online modes."

DLC of original pre-order items available April 12
Rockstar posted a news item today that three game items originally only available with pre-orders of Red Dead Redemption will become available for download via PSN and XBL on April 12, 2011, priced at $0.99 each (or 80 Microsoft Points). Items include the Deadly Assassin Outfit, Golden Guns Weapon Pack, and War Horse. See the linked news item for more details.
