The Owl Rifle is a long rifle with a high stopping power, but it has quite a short range and very slow reload speed. It is also a very accurate weapon. It is the first long gun received during the game.
Acquisition
The player starts with the Owl Rifle in the second chapter, "Bounty Hunter". An upgrade can be obtained by completing "Railroaded" with a Good rating.
Sheriff Bartlett's Journal
Owl Rifle is listed in Sheriff Bartlett's Journal on pages 44 - 45 under the Ranged Weapons section. The pages are unlocked by completing the mission "Bounty Hunter".
Trivia
- The Owl Rifle is based on the real world Spencer repeating rifle (carbine version).
- The Owl Rifle is based on the same model as the Repeater Carbine from Red Dead Redemption, and they are both the first rifles used in both games.
- The image of the rifle in the game manual differs significantly from the image in the game.
