Okay, but we fight like men, not like dogs!
Raul Zubieta challenging Marston to a duel

Raul Zubieta is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.

History[]

Background[]

Zubieta is a major in the Mexican Army. Judging by his rank and uniform, he is a staff officer, but with a lower rank than Allende.

Events of Red Dead Redemption[]

Before "An Appointed Time", Zubieta commands the garrison at El Presidio. The player can often see him looking through binoculars on the watchtower, which has a Gatling Gun.

During the events of "An Appointed Time", Zubieta, Aurelio Canizales, and Sebastian Nolasco capture Abraham Reyes and were preparing to execute him until Marston arrives. John attempts to threaten them into releasing Reyes, but Luisa Fortuna interferes and tries to stab Zubieta with her knife. The soldiers open fire, and she is gunned down. An enraged Marston kills Aurelio and Sebastian, but Zubieta demands that as an officer, he be given the right to defend himself. In the ensuing duel, Marston kills him and avenges Luisa.

Unlike other members of the Mexican Army, his character model does not appear in any location across Nuevo Paraíso following "An Appointed Time".

Undead Nightmare[]

In Undead Nightmare, Zubieta is seen organizing other survivors to defend Chuparosa and El Presidio. There are no unique interactions between him and Marston.

Trivia[]

  • Zubieta and Allende are the only seen soldiers in Red Dead Redemption with medals on their uniforms.
  • NPCs with a similar character model as his appear in the role of enemy guards during "Landon Ricketts Rides Again".
  • Zubieta is the only duelist in-game to have a unique draw, as he fires from the hip and squats when he fires.
