In the trivia section, it says it could be one of the Great Lakes. I highly doubt this is what Rockstar meant for it to be though, because Mexico is only a 5 - 10 minute ride away. Red Dead Pickle 22:53, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

You're right, Pickle. I find it hard to believe that the lake is a reference to the Great Lakes. For one, as you said, it's a short ride away from Mexico, while the Great Lakes are up in Canada. Also, Flat Iron Lake isn't even close in size. Compared to the Great Lakes, it's a pond.
