Ok, so 3 comments is more than enough reason to continue...haha.
Anyway, people basically told me in the comments that they loved this game. And so do I. Don't get me wrong. This game is probably one of the most impressive games I have ever played. Also, an obvious comparison was drawn between this game and Grand theft Auto 4. And that's understandable. However, a negative comment was made about GTA 4. Before I continue, I gotta say that I disagree. I thought GTA 4 was an awesome, kick-ass game. I felt that Rockstar did an amazing job, and attention to detail was crazy good. Which brings me back to my main point: I don't think the same can be said for Read Dead Redemption. Let me explain.....
So, I found myself looking through the Q&A section of this web site. And I was shocked. Most of the questions that I read were "Can you....?" questions i.e. Can you hire a prostitute, can you rob trains, can you eat the animals you kill, can you rob banks, can you do this and that......And it sucks that every answer to these questions was NO! I mean, one thing I loved about GTA 4, and other relatively recent Rockstar games, was the sheer amount of choice in them. And in that way, I feel that Red Dead is inferior. Choices are sparse, and creating your own style of play is hard to do. I won't even mention the dissapointing absence of being able to customize your wardrobe. ( Sure, you can unlock PRE-DETERMINED outfits, but apart from the legend of the west and the duster coat, none of them are really cool or bad-ass.) One question that haunts me still is "How come John/Jack can't eat? Surely they get hungry while out exploring the wilderness and cappin' outlaws all day?" And I completely agree. I loved being able to drive around in GTA 4, and stop at a Cluckin' Bell or a Burger Shot and eat some food. Sure, it wasn't needed but I loved having that choice. (People ate in the Old West, right?) Why can't John eat his animal meat he gets? Wouldn't it be cool if he could set up a camp fire and eat some friggin' smores or something? And many people would argue that eating isn't necassary because of the regeneration feature. But even so, it bothers me that John/Jack like filter feed or something all day long.
It is things like this that bug me about this game...(That, and the actual BUGS that litter the gameplay....Come on Rockstar :/ ) So, once again, leave comments and share your thoughts and I'll be happy to discuss them.Outlaw2theend 23:59, June 18, 2010 (UTC)Outlaw2theend
